NBA PLAYER AND CHANGE & IMPACT FOUNDER, MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST TO VISIT MURRAY STATE & HOST SPECIAL BOWLING EVENT FOR STUTTERING COMMUNITY

(May 16, 2023) – Founder & CEO of Change & Impact, Inc., NBA veteran, and University of Kentucky (UK) Men’s Basketball Champion, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (“MKG”), is returning to Kentucky for two special stops in Murray.

MKG will speak at Murray State University’s College of Education and Human Services on Friday, May 19 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, and his foundation will host the Change & Impact Bowling Blast on Friday, May 19 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Corvette Lanes located at 1415 Main Street in Murray.

MKG is an individual who stutters and travels the country speaking to college students studying to be future Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP). His message is focused on the importance of speech therapy, the trusted relationship between a person who stutters and their SLP, and how both changed his life as a student-athlete at UK.

While at Murray State, MKG will speak to a classroom of 30 graduate students, and faculty and staff of the Center for Communication Disorders at Alexander Hall on the Murray State campus.

Following his speaking engagement, MKG’s foundation and Murray State will bring together corporate and individual sponsors to bowl and boost awareness for stuttering.  Children and teens who stutter along with their parents/caregivers, and speech-language pathologists from the Murray community will join MKG to celebrate stuttering during the Change & Impact Bowling Blast.  The evening will include fun bowling competition, games, and a chance for members of the stuttering community to meet and make lasting friendships.

“The state of Kentucky feels just like home to me and everyone in Murray has treated me like family.  I’m excited to meet future SLP’s studying at Murray State and to meet children who stutter from the community,” said Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. “I believe it’s so important to bring together the stuttering community so those who stutter know they’re not alone on their journey.”
