MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST RETURNS TO LEXINGTON FOR SECOND ANNUAL CHANGE & IMPACT BOWLING FUNDRAISER FOR KENTUCKY’S STUTTERING COMMUNITY

(September 7, 2023)Change & Impact, Inc., today announced that its Founder & CEO, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (“MKG”) will return to Lexington, Kentucky to host the Second Annual Change & Impact Bowling Fundraiser Presented by The Kentucky Roadshow and Roadshowcards.com. MKG, children and adults who stutter, their families, speech-language pathologists, and other special guests will join together to bowl and celebrate stuttering.  The event will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the LexLive Entertainment Destination, located at 301 S Broadway, Lexington, KY, 40508.

“I understand the challenges and barriers kids and adults who stutter face on a daily basis.  And one of my goals with Change & Impact is to let them know they are not alone,” said Kidd-Gilchrist.  “Hosting this event for the stuttering community in my second home of Lexington will bring us all together to inspire and support one another.”

The Second Annual Change & Impact Bowling Fundraiser is presented by The Kentucky Roadshow and Roadshowcards.com and supported by Sky Systemz.  Proceeds from the event directly support the Change & Impact Building Opportunities campaign that includes stuttering intervention research, providing speech therapy services for children, and community outreach initiatives to empower those who stutter.

Since Change & Impact’s inception, Kidd-Gilchrist has been on a national speaking circuit visiting more than 50 universities, hospitals, stuttering camps and support groups to share his story as an individual who stutters.   Kidd-Gilchrist also advocates for the stuttering community at the federal and state level to raise awareness about gaps in the healthcare system for those who stutter, and the medical need to improve speech therapy insurance coverage for stuttering.

In 2020 when spending time in the NBA ‘bubble’ during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kidd-Gilchrist began reflecting on his own stutter while learning more about all the barriers the stuttering community faces.  He considered how to turn his knowledge and experience into actionable and meaningful ways to educate, advocate and raise awareness about stuttering. In 2021, he founded Change & Impact, Inc. The mission is to improve access to healthcare and expand services and resources for those who stutter.

Media Availability:   The event is open to media on Sunday, September 10 from 1:00– 2:00 pm and is located at 301 S Broadway, Lexington, KY, 40508.  Garage parking is available at 317 S.
